The Better Business Bureau presented the Torch Awards for Business Integrity at the IHotel in Champaign, attended by nearly 50 area business leaders on December 2, 2021 and December 9 at the Warehouse on State December 9 attended by nearly 200 area business leaders.
“Cramer Siding & Window (Champaign), The Organic Cleaning Machine (Bloomington), Green Homes (East Peoria), Rebecca Gaetz, Keller Williams Realtor (Peoria), Renewal By Andersen of Central Illinois, Helitech (Lincoln) and Snyder Village (Metamora) selected as the winners of the 22nd Annual BBB Torch Award for Business Ethics,” said Jessica Tharp – President/CEO of the Central Illinois Better Business Bureau, which serves 36 counties in central Illinois. “BBB received 61 nominations for the award. The winning companies were chosen by 3 volunteer judges. Winners were deemed to exercise integrity and consistently meet very high standards in their relationships with customers, employees, vender/suppliers, industry peers and our community.”
Kenneth Waterbury of Ashley Home Stores of Central Illinois (Champaign) and Shane Martin of Covenant Plumbing (Bloomington) were named recipient of the BBB Customer Service Award.
BBB presented the Truth In Advertising to Fiers Boutique of Eureka. The award is presented to a company in central Illinois that best personifies the BBB’s mission of promoting honest and ethical advertising in the marketplace. Owner, Amber Fiers of Fiers Boutique was commended for upholding BBB standards and transparency in their advertising.
Denny Boulton, owner of D’s Paint & Body Shop was presented with the BBB’s Patron of Integrity Award. “We wanted to recognize Denny for his longstanding commitment to the BBB’s mission, values and goals”, said Jessica Tharp.
Better Business Bureau Torch Awards
The mission of the Better Business Bureau system is to promote and foster the highest ethical relationship between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education and service excellence. The Central Illinois Better Business Bureau established an annual award program to gain public recognition for Central Illinois companies that maintain a solid commitment to conduct their business practices in an ethical fashion. The Torch Award is designed to promote not only the importance of ethical business practices, but also the willingness and efforts made by outstanding business to ensure that our marketplace remains fair and honorable for all Americans. Companies do not need to have a full-scale ethics program in operation in order to compete. They simply need to demonstrate that they meet the judging criteria.
