Our coronavirus response

*Updated* Thursday, September 15, 2022

Health Center Residents & POAs:

Our commitment remains to protect and promote the health of our residents.  Starting this fall, we will once again be offering the flu vaccine and the pneumonia vaccine for our Health Center residents.  This year, we will also be offering the new Bivalent COVID-19 Booster for our residents.

In order for our Health Center residents to receive these vaccines, the resident’s POA will need to sign and return a consent form.  The POA’s will be receiving the consent form in the mail.

We highly recommend our residents have these vaccinations in order to help protect their health and stay up-to-date per CDC guidance.  For further information about each vaccine, please see the links below.

If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Gould, AQ at (309) 366-4122.

*Updated* Tuesday, March 1, 2022

Residents, Family, and Friends of Snyder Village:

On February 28, the Governor lifted the mask mandate for public indoor spaces in Illinois.  Please keep in mind that this change applies for the general community, but not to facilities like Snyder Village.  Long-term care facilities have separate guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health that must be followed.  Visitors to our Health Center and Assisted Living will still be required to wear a face mask at all times while in the building, even in resident apartments/rooms.

Additionally, please note that regulations regarding length of isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 differ for visitors to our facility.  Visitors must follow the quarantine and isolation guidance for long-term care facilities; the shortened CDC time periods for the general public do not apply. This means that a visitor must be in isolation for 10 full days after a positive test, or quarantine for 14 days after close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, regardless of vaccination status, before returning to our facilities.

Please call (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 with any questions.  Thank you.

Please see specific information for visitors to Assisted Living and the Health Center below:

Assisted Living:
Visiting hours are from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m., daily at Assisted Living and do not need to be scheduled ahead of time.  The facility’s front door will be locked outside of this time frame.  If you come to visit your loved one before 6 a.m. or after 7 p.m., please call (309) 367-2500 or push the blue button to the left side of the vestibule door for assistance.

All visitors will be required to self-screen using the Accushield machine upon entering the building.  Visitors must also sign out through the Accushield machine at the end of the visit before exiting the building.

If you are picking your loved one up to take him/her to an appointment or out into the community, please screen yourself through the Accushield machine when you arrive and sign back out through the Accushield machine upon returning. Always be sure to let a nurse or caregiver know when you are taking your loved one out and ask them to package up any medication that may be needed while he/she is out of the building.

Face masks must be worn at all times while you are in the building, even in resident apartments. If you choose to eat a meal with your loved one, please make sure there is at least 6-feet of distance between all visitors and the resident. Please do not enter our dining areas or our activity areas during your visits. We do ask that you refrain from visiting with any residents other than your loved one unless you are able to maintain 6-feet of distance.  We appreciate your cooperation.

All visitors are encouraged be vaccinated and to get tested 2-3 days prior to coming to the facility.

*Updated* Friday, June 11, 2021

Today, Illinois moves into Phase 5 of the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan.  Nearly all restrictions on commerce establishments, including restaurants, are lifted.  While these changes are exciting for the general public, please keep in mind that facilities like Snyder Village have their own guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health that must be followed.  Our guidelines do not follow the same regulations that are issued as part of Phase 5.  When IDPH updates the guidance for long-term care facilities like Snyder Village, we will notify you of any important changes.  Guests visiting Snyder Village are still asked to follow the procedures that are established for our campus.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Please call (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 with any questions.

*Updated* Tuesday, May 25, 2021

Residents, Family, and Friends of Snyder Village:

While the CDC and the state of IL have recently loosened restrictions and COVID-19 recommendations, please note that these changes are not intended for healthcare settings and do not apply to facilities like our Health Center and Assisted Living.  We are still required to follow healthcare guidelines issued by IDPH.   We will notify you when IDPH makes any changes to our COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines.

In an effort to prevent positive cases from occurring in our facilities, we are implementing further preventative measures, which include additional testing of anyone entering our facility (compassionate care visits, vendors, etc.).

Although the vaccine has helped alleviate some occurrences of the virus and has helped positive cases of coronavirus be less severe, we are learning that the vaccine does not stop all positive cases from occurring.  With an efficiency rate of around 95% for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, there remains a 5% gap in which vaccinated individuals may test positive for COVID-19.  Research is also still needed to learn how new variants of the virus measure up against the vaccine.  We continue to encourage all our residents and staff to receive the vaccine but understand that it is only one of the tools needed to fight COVID-19.

Read more on our COVID-19 response measures and protocols here.

Changes to the allowed visitation in the Health Center and Assisted Living happen rapidly and frequently.  For the most up-to-date information on what type of visiting is allowed for your resident, please call the Health Center at (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 or Assisted Living at (309) 367-4300 ext. 203.  Please be assured that we are striving to allow as many visits as possible while remaining in compliance with IDPH regulations.  For visitors coming to our facilities, please remember the importance of following the visitor policy, which includes wearing appropriate PPE for the length of the visit.  These guidelines are in place for the safety of our residents and staff and, if adhered to, can help prevent further positive cases in our facilities.  We appreciate your cooperation.

We will continue to keep you updated.  Please call (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 with any questions.  Thank you for your support and prayers.

Following guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health, we are now able to advance to Phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan in the Health Center.  This is due to our county’s low COVID-19 positivity rate and the lack of any new positive cases among staff or residents.  In Phase 2 we are able to open the beauty shop for our residents.  No changes to the visitor policy will be made at this time.   When additional  visiting options can be provided safely, we will notify you.  We encourage Health Center family members to schedule vestibule visits, phone calls, or video chats by calling (309) 367-4300 ext. 100.  Plexiglass room visits, phone calls, and video chats can be scheduled for Assisted Living by calling (309) 367-2500.

The second dose of the vaccine has now been offered and administered to our Assisted Living and Health Center residents and staff.  Any resident in our Retirement Community who is age 65 and older is eligible to receive the vaccine from their doctor or a participating pharmacy.  Snyder Village does not have the ability to administer the vaccine to independent living residents here on campus.  To see a current list of vaccination locations in our area, click here.

We remain diligent in our prevention and response measures for COVID-19.  Staff and residents continue to wear masks, social distance, and practice proper hygiene.  We thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and prayers as we continue to navigate through this COVID-19 journey.

Residents, Family, and Friends of Snyder Village:

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, our Assisted Living facility is now able to advance past outbreak status and into the next phase of the state’s reopening plan.  This is partly due to our county’s low COVID-19 positivity rate and the fact that our Assisted Living facility has had no new positive cases for several weeks. To protect our residents and remain in compliance with directives from IDPH and the CDC, our visitor restrictions in the Health Center remain in place until further notice.  When reopening the Health Center is allowed and can be done safely, we will notify you.

This new phase will allow us to implement the following changes at Assisted Living:

  • Increase of communal dining for the residents to a maximum seating capacity of 25%.
  • Group activities will be allowed to take place with a maximum of 10 residents gathered.  Social distancing, mask wearing, and proper hygiene will still be required at all activities.  Outings beyond the facility are not permitted.
  • Visitations in our indoor plexiglass room will now be allowed for those residents who are not in isolation or quarantine.  Guidance for these visits can be found here.  Visitors will be required to comply with the visitation policy.  All visits must be scheduled in advance by calling (309) 367-2500 during business hours.  Visiting hours will be Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

We will remain diligent in our COVID-19 prevention measures.  If we experience any new positive COVID-19 cases in our residents or employees or if the county’s positivity rate increases once again, our facility will be required to move back a phase.  We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to move forward in the state’s reopening plan.

We’re excited to introduce these new changes and look forward to even more positive changes in the future.  Thank you for your continued support.

Residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village:

The COVID-19 vaccination planning and administration continues to move forward at Snyder Village.  Many of our Home Care employees have already received their first dose of the vaccine and our Health Center employees and residents received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this past Monday.  We are excited to have secured a date for the first vaccine clinic at Assisted Living.  Staff and residents of Assisted Living will be offered the first dose of the vaccine on January 31.  Those Retirement Community residents who are age 65 and older fall within the state’s 1b phase of the vaccination program.  These residents should expect to receive a phone call from the local health department or medical provider to have their vaccine appointment scheduled.  We are eager for all our residents and staff to have access to the vaccine as an additional way to protect each other and our community.

We have followed, and will continue to do so, all guidance set forth for patient care, employee safety, and efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 as provided by the Illinois Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  We are monitoring any recommendations for safe and phased-in reopening strategies for the future.  We will continue to keep you updated with any new information.

The first round of COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered to staff and residents of the Snyder Village Health Center on Monday, January 18.  The Snyder Village Health Center provides 24/7 skilled nursing care to its residents.  Through the Federal Pharmacy Partnership Program, Walgreens technicians administered the vaccine to 135 staff members and 68 residents.  There was an excited energy throughout the Health Center as staff and residents took this hopeful step toward ending COVID-19.  Personal reasons for taking the vaccine varied among staff and residents.  Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director at Snyder Village explains, “I’m getting the vaccine for our residents, our staff, my family, and everyone I come in contact with.”  CNA Supervisor, Gina Melvin shares, “I’m getting the vaccine because I believe our residents deserve this.  I’m doing this for my residents, my family, and for those who can’t!”  More can be read on Snyder Village’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/snydervillage.

Snyder Village is still awaiting information from the state regarding the scheduling of vaccine clinics for its Assisted Living residents and staff.

Residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village:

With news of the first COVID-19 vaccine coming to the United States, we want to communicate what that means for us here at Snyder Village.  Both our Health Center and Assisted Living facilities have enrolled in the Federal Pharmacy Partnership Program, which is a program through the CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health that will provide and administer the vaccine for our residents and staff.   Because of a limited supply, the vaccine will be administered in phases, with the most vulnerable receiving the vaccine first.  According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, skilled nursing facilities will be in the first group to be offered the vaccine.  Residents and staff of skilled nursing facilities, such as our Health Center, will be offered the vaccine by IDPH toward the end of December.  An exact date of when the vaccine will be available to our residents and staff has not yet been set, and we will notify the involved parties when this information is available.

IDPH has also identified the high-risk populations of Assisted Living facilities and congregate settings to have priority access to the vaccine.  More information is still to come from the Health Department on when these facilities and communities will be offered the vaccine.  Plans for these areas of care will be finalized over the coming weeks.

Health officials agree that this vaccine will help save the lives of those who are most at risk of developing COVID-19 and the important role it has in stopping this pandemic.  For some helpful website links from the CDC with information on the vaccine, please see below.  Thank you for your support and prayers.

Residents, family members, and friends of Snyder Village:

As COVID-19 case numbers in our state continue to rise and new Tier 3 mitigations go in place today throughout Illinois, we want to share changes these mitigations will bring to Snyder Village.  For the safety of our residents, group activities in the Health Center will temporarily stop. Residents will still be receiving one-on-one attention and activities from our wonderful activity team. They will also be given the opportunity to participate together in activities from their individual doorways, keeping a safe distance apart.

Plexiglass visits and compassionate care visits with all residents will stop until further notice.  The only visits allowed will be end-of-life visitation.  A staff person will contact you to set up end-of-life visitation if appropriate.  If you already had a plexiglass visit scheduled for the future, you may change this visit to be a phone call or video chat instead.  Please call the Health Center at (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 or Assisted Living at (309) 367-2500 to change your appointment, otherwise all plexiglass visits will be canceled indefinitely.  Phone call and video chat appointments may be scheduled up to four weeks in advance.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our residents and staff safe.  We will continue to supply you with updates.  If you have any questions, please call 367-4300 ext. 100.  Thank you.

At this time, we do not have any new positive cases of COVID-19 inside our facilities. No residents are currently displaying symptoms of COVID-19. We continue to take preventative measures to prevent the spread of the virus. In order to keep employees and residents safe, we are taking the following actions:

  • Increased cleaning and sanitizing of facilities

  • Securing more PPE if it becomes needed
  • Screening all staff for COVID-19 symptoms before their shift and mid-way through their shift
  • Screening residents regularly for COVID-19 symptoms

Residents, family members, and friends of Snyder Village:

We want to continue to be transparent in our communication and to inform you of another update we have tonight.

This evening, we were made aware that an employee of the Snyder Village Health Center tested positive for COVID-19. The employee has been in contact with the health department for further instruction and is quarantining at home.

We have followed, and will continue to do so, all guidance set forth for patient care, employee safety, and efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 as provided by the Illinois Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  As a precautionary measure, all staff and visitors to our campus have been pre-screened before entering our facilities since March 6, 2020. Except for end-of-life circumstances, all visitors to our Health Center and Assisted Living facilities have been restricted since March 14, 2020.  We will continue to work with the Woodford County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health to prevent the spread of the virus and protect the health and safety of our residents and staff.  Public Health will communicate with members of our community who may have come in contact with the employee who tested positive.

We send our prayers and best wishes to the Health Center employee affected.  We recognize that this information is unwelcome news.  We have been planning for an incident such as this and have our response plan set in motion.  We are closely monitoring each Health Center resident for any symptoms and will continue to be vigilant in our prevention methods.  We commend our employees for their continued dedication and the loving care they give our residents each day.

During this time of uncertainty with COVID-19, we are committed to providing you with transparent and candid communication.

Today we were informed that two employees of Snyder Village Assisted Living tested positive for COVID-19. The employees have been in contact with the Woodford County Health Department for further instruction and are now quarantining in their homes.

Before this diagnosis, Snyder Village had already taken precautionary measures against COVID-19.  Beginning on March 6, 2020, all staff and visitors to our campus have been pre-screened before entering our facilities.  Except for end-of-life circumstances, all visitors to our Health Center and Assisted Living facilities have been restricted since March 14, following directives from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).  We will continue to work with the Woodford County Health Department and IDPH to prevent the spread of the virus and mitigate any further issues.  Public Health will communicate with any members of our community who may have come in contact with the employees who tested positive.

We send our prayers and best wishes to the Assisted Living employees affected.  We recognize that this news may cause uneasiness and concern among our residents, supporters, and family members.  Rest assured, dedicated individuals are working without pause to provide the best guidance and care to protect the health and well-being of our residents and staff.  We are closely monitoring each Assisted Living resident for any symptoms.  Snyder Village remains committed to our mission: To provide for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others in a loving, dignified, and Christian atmosphere.  We commend our employees who live out this mission daily and are dedicated to providing the best care to safeguard our residents – especially in these uncertain times.

Residents, family members, and friends of Snyder Village:

As we continue our coronavirus preparedness and response planning, we want to share with you our latest update.  We currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our facilities.  We are remaining diligent in our precautionary measures which include increased sanitizing, social distancing, the wearing of facemasks by residents and employees, and screening residents and employees for coronavirus symptoms. As we’ve adjusted to the restrictions and new protocols in our facilities, we have found new ways to keep residents engaged.  Our activity teams are doing a wonderful job of creating fun activities and crafts for our residents such as indoor bowling, water gun painting, and community parades.  Staff members also remain focused on ensuring that the mental and emotional health needs of residents are being met.  Chaplain visits, specialized activities, and one-on-one visits with staff help to keep residents engaged and connected.  Several staff members dedicate their time to facilitating video calls and plexiglass “Chat Box” visits to help encourage the vital relationship between residents and their loved ones.  We want to commend our staff members who continually show dedication in keeping our residents and their fellow coworkers safe.

We know that this virus is still a real threat in our community – especially to the vulnerable population whom we serve.  There are several ways in which you can help protect yourself and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our local community.

Guidelines for personal safety include:

  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
  • Practicing social distancing
  • Wearing a face covering that covers your mouth and nose when around others

For more on how Snyder Village is responding to the current pandemic, visit the “Frequently Asked Questions” page on our website.  Thank you for doing your part in helping to protect our vulnerable population.  If you have any questions, please give us a call at 367-4300.

Residents, family members, and friends of Snyder Village:

We thank you for your support over the past several months and appreciate the cooperation you’ve demonstrated with the necessary guidelines and restrictions.  The health and safety of those we care for remains our top priority. While restrictions for visiting inside our Health Center and Assisted Living facilities must remain in place for the time being, we are excited to begin the process of allowing outdoor visitations and are looking into options that would allow us to accomplish this safely.

One visitation option that is available now in our Health Center and will be available next week at Assisted Living is our new “Chat Room.” The Chat Room is a plexiglass enclosure in which residents sit inside while family members visit from the opposite side of the glass.  This Chat Room still provides a necessary safety barrier to prevent the possible transfer of the virus, but allows residents and visitors to see and hear each other more clearly than through a window.  Visits are monitored by staff and the enclosure is disinfected both inside and out after each use.

Before scheduling a visit in the Chat Room, visitors must agree to follow any guidelines set by staff.  Chat Room visits for Health Center residents can be scheduled by calling 367-4300 ext. 100 and visits for Assisted Living residents can be scheduled by calling 367-2500.  Appointments are available Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  We are happy to provide this new way to visit and to help you get one step closer to being with your loved one.

As Illinois moves into Phase 4 of Restore Illinois, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is working on preparing Phase 4 guidance for facilities like Snyder Village.  Internally, we continue to develop comprehensive plans for COVID-19 prevention and preparedness and are staying abreast of recommendations for safe and phased-in reopening strategies for the future.  We will continue to keep you updated with any new information.

If you have any questions, please give us a call at 367-4300.  Thank you and have a great day.

Residents, family members, and friends of Snyder Village:

We want to continue to be transparent with our communication and to keep you informed of anything new at Snyder Village during this current global pandemic.  We currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our facilities.  As we continue to follow the directives from the Illinois Department of Public Health and federal agencies, our visitor restrictions at the Health Center and Assisted Living remain in place.  We are committed to keeping our residents and employees’ health and safety our top priority during this time.

As we protect and care for the physical health of our residents, we are also tending to the mental and spiritual health of each individual.  Since in-person religious services are unavailable for the time being, residents are being given the opportunity to view services on their televisions and given options for online viewing if they are able.  Our campus chaplain visits residents for one-on-one chats and Bible studies are being broadcast on televisions throughout campus.  Residents are also staying active and enjoying the many fun and creative activities that our staff members are producing for them.  And our employees have been staying busy helping residents connect with family and friends through phone calls, video chats, and window visits.

We know that the visitor restrictions are difficult and that many of you are missing spending time with your loved ones in person.  We are working on developing new ways for you to connect with the residents while still remaining in compliance with our State’s visitor restriction guidelines.  We will keep you updated with details of these opportunities and when they will be available.

As always, if you have any questions, please call (309) 367-4300 during business hours.  If you must speak with someone after hours, you may call Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director, on his cell at (309) 360-3101.  Please make sure to join us for the Family & Community Car Parade on Father’s Day at 2:00 p.m.  Details of this event can be found on our website and Facebook page.  Thank you.

*Updated* Wednesday, May 27, 2020

Residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village:

We currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our facilities and continue to closely monitor the recommendations of our governing agencies.  As Illinois moves into Phase 3 of the reopening plan this Friday, we will see more local businesses changing their restrictions and opening once again.  Some restrictions in our independent living Retirement Community will change on Friday to reflect the State’s opening plan. However, visiting restrictions at facilities like Snyder Village Health Center and Assisted Living are not changing, in order to protect our vulnerable population and to remain in compliance with directives from the Illinois Department of Public Health and Federal agencies.  The visitor restrictions at the Health Center and Assisted Living therefore remain in place until further notice.  We will be consulting with our Medical Director, local Health Department, and other health agencies to determine when it is safe to lift these restrictions.  Above all, the health and safety of our residents and staff remain our top priority.

We know these restrictions are hard and challenging.  We encourage you to stay in touch with your loved ones by phone calls, Facetime calls, and Google Duo calls.  These calls can be scheduled by phoning (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 during business hours.  Emails can also be sent to residents via our website at www.snydervillage.com.  Residents appreciate receiving cards and packages in the mail as well.  And we are all looking forward to the Family & Community Car Parade on Father’s Day.  Details of this event can be found on our website and Facebook page.

We will continue to keep you updated with any new information.  As always, if you have any questions, please call (309) 367-4300 during business hours.  If you must speak with someone after hours, you may call Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director, on his cell at (309) 360-3101.  Thank you for you cooperation and patience during this time.

Residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village:

This current global pandemic has brought challenges that most of us have never had to face before.  Here at Snyder Village, we have been impressed with how our employees have stepped up to the plate during this difficult time.  Their dedication and care for our residents and each other continues to inspire and encourage us.  We have been implementing additional ways to recognize our staff’s efforts and have been providing them with information, training, and additional means by which we can support them.  Some of our residents wanted to say a special “Thank You” to the staff for all their hard work.  Dwight, a resident in our Health Center, wanted to tell staff, “Thank you for everything you have done and do.  You are all terrific, brave, obedient, and cheerful!”  You can view more of these thank you messages by visiting our Facebook page or by clicking here.

We currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 on our campus and continue to closely monitor the recommendations of our governing agencies.  In the near future, we anticipate seeing more local businesses changing their restrictions and opening once again.  However, visiting restrictions at facilities like Snyder Village are not changing, in order to protect our vulnerable population and to remain in compliance with directives from the Illinois Department of Public Health and Federal agencies.  Our visitor restrictions will therefore remain in place.  We will be consulting with our Medical Director, local Health Department, and other health agencies to determine when it is safe to lift other restrictions currently in place for our residents, such as group activities and communal dining.  Above all, the health and safety of our residents and staff will remain our top priority and any decisions made will reflect that.

We will keep you updated with any new information.  As always, if you have any questions, please call (309) 367-4300 during business hours.  If you must speak with someone after hours, you may call Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director, on his cell at (309) 360-3101.  Thank you.

Residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village:

As we continue to “shelter in place” here at Snyder Village, we are finding new ways to keep our residents safe and engaged.  It has been fun to see the creative activities that our staff has come up with while still adhering to social distancing guidelines.  Across campus, residents have been enjoying a variety of activities like one-on-one cooking classes, indoor bowling, balloon volleyball, hallway bingo, walking contests, and scavenger hunts.

The use of technology has become vital in keeping our residents engaged and connected.  Through our internal television system, we broadcast exercise classes, Bible studies, and entertainment to residents.  Family members are able to send emails and pictures to residents through our website, and those whose loved ones reside in our Assisted Living facility are encouraged to send a video message to their resident for Mother’s Day.  Information about this can be found on our Facebook page.  And since so many of you have been enjoying connecting with your loved one through scheduled phone calls, Facetime calls, and Google Duo calls, we now have staff dedicated to facilitating these calls and keeping you connected with those you love.

While we currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 on our campus, we’ve added additional preventative measures in an effort to keep our residents and staff safe.  Residents are now wearing facemasks when outside of their room or apartment as a safeguard for the protection of themselves and others.   We continue to monitor staff and residents and have increased the frequency of screenings for possible COVID-19 symptoms.  Staff members are screened for fever and other symptoms before their shift begins and again at mid-shift.  Employees are also encouraged to self-monitor for symptoms during their shift and while away from work.  Health Center and Assisted Living residents continue to be regularly screened and all are being monitored closely for any signs of possible COVID-19 symptoms.

As always, if you have any questions, please call us at (309) 367-4300. We will continue to keep you updated with any new information.   And be sure to stop by and take part in the Mother’s Day car parade for our Health Center residents this Sunday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m.  We know events like these can’t replace hugs with your loved ones, but we hope they bring some joy.  Thank you for your continued support, cooperation, and prayers.

*Updated* Thursday, April 30, 2020

Residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village:

As we carry on navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to provide you with our latest update.  We currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 on our campus and continue to closely monitor the recommendations of our governing agencies.  As a result, we have implemented additional preventative measures to protect our residents and staff.   We have increased the frequency of employee screenings for symptoms while on shift and have introduced the wearing of facemasks for residents.  Our other preventative measures remain in place such as visitor restrictions, canceling of group activities and normal communal dining, encouraging social distancing, and increased cleaning and sanitizing of our facilities.

We recognize that May 1 will bring with it some changes for the general public according to the Governor and within Woodford County, however, visiting restrictions at facilities like Snyder Village are not changing, in compliance with directives from the Illinois Department of Public Health and Federal agencies. Our visitor restrictions will therefore remain in place until it is safe to lift them, that is:

No visitors are allowed in the Health Center or Assisted Living. The only exception is for end-of-life care. The independent living apartments in the Retirement Community will continue to have limited visiting hours. No visitors under the age of 18 are allowed inside our facilities. Any visitor who is allowed to enter will be screened upon entry and asked to wear a facemask.

We will also continue to limit residents from leaving our Health Center and Assisted Living facilities except for urgent medical appointments.  All other appointments will be postponed.  We also encourage our Retirement Community residents to shelter in place during the stay-at-home order.

Dear residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village,

It’s hard to imagine that a couple of months ago the COVID-19 pandemic was not a large part of our lives.  While we currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 on our campus, our coronavirus preparedness and response planning continues to be at the forefront of our minds.

Infection control has always been something we take very seriously at Snyder Village. Our nursing team, including an Infection Preventionist/IT Nurse, has led the charge along with our Medical Director and other management to increase our infection prevention.  We are closely monitoring the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and have increased training for all staff on hand hygiene and proper PPE use.  Increased cleaning and disinfecting is also taking place in all our facilities.

Other preventative measures are in place, such as visitor restrictions, canceling of group activities and normal communal dining, encouraging social distancing, and the screening of all staff for symptoms.  These actions are a group effort by all staff at Snyder Village and we continue to be impressed by our employees’ dedication and care for our residents and each other.  Although things may be a little different than our residents are used to, they are still enjoying the same high level of care and love they received before this pandemic began.

How You Can Help

With the current visitor restrictions in place, it may feel like there is not much you can do to help.  However, there are several things you can be doing now to help the residents and staff of Snyder Village.

    • Stay Connected: Since in-person visits are currently prohibited, we encourage families to communicate with their residents by calling, texting, or setting up a video call. Facetime and Google Duo calls with your loved one can be scheduled by calling our office at (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 during business hours, Monday through Friday.  Residents also love receiving cards, letters and packages.
    • Stay Compliant: We know that the current visitor restrictions that are in place are hard and that everyone is missing their loved ones. But to ensure the health and safety of our residents, we ask for your understanding and cooperation in following the guidelines and temporary restrictions that have been put in place. Thank you.
    • Stay Informed: Unfortunately, a lot of misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be shared via social media and other outlets. Stay informed by checking on reliable sources like the CDC website and the state of Illinois Coronavirus website.
    • Stay Home: It helps protect our whole community and prevents the spread of the virus when you stay home and shelter in place. If you must go out for essential supplies, practice good social distancing.  The CDC now also recommends wearing a facemask when out in public.
    • Stay Compassionate: You can help a senior who may have exhausted their personal resources by donating to Snyder Village’s “Resident In Need Fund”. Donations can be mailed to Snyder Village, “Resident In Need Fund”, 1200 E. Partridge St, Metamora, IL, 61548 or made online at snydervillage.com.
    • Stay Prayerful: We know that many of you are praying for the safety and protection of our residents and staff and we so appreciate your prayers. Please continue to pray for Snyder Village and for our community at large.
    • Contact Us: If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at (309) 367-4300 during business hours. If you must speak with someone after hours, you may call Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director, on his cell at (309) 360-3101.  We have also posted some common Frequently Asked Questions on our website to help answer questions you may have.

We will continue to keep you updated with any new information.  God bless you as we carry on in this journey together.

Dear residents, family, and friends of Snyder Village,

As we continue to adjust to this new ‘temporary’ way of life, we acknowledge that this has been a trying time for all.  Even though we are longing for normalcy to return, this challenging period has also shown us how committed and strong we are as a community.  We have been blessed by the outpouring of encouraging messages, phone calls, and notes from family members and the community.  The homemade masks that keep showing up at our back door are so appreciated.  The dedication of our staff continues to impress us as they find new ways to serve our residents through this unfamiliar time.  We have been implementing additional ways to recognize our staff’s efforts and have been providing them with information, training, and additional means in which we can support them.

While we currently do not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 on our campus, we are continuing to take preventative measures to best protect our residents and employees and to prepare for whatever the future may hold.  A response plan has been has been established and additional protective measures have been put in place.  The situation in our nation, state, and local community is rapidly changing, and we spend time every day monitoring the latest guidance and applying it to our campus.

We want to thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.  We know that some of these changes, such as the visitor restrictions, are hard.  Thank you for trusting us with the care of your loved one and for allowing us to take whatever measures are needed to protect this vulnerable population.

We will continue to keep you updated with any new information.  As always, if you have any questions, please call (309) 367-4300 during business hours.  If you must speak with someone after hours, you may call Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director, on his cell at (309) 360-3101.  Thank you.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

As we continue navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to provide you with our latest update.  We continue to make strides to ensure the health and safety of our residents and employees.  A team of personnel has been assigned to our COVID-19 preparation and response efforts.  They are monitoring the information and guidelines being released by the federal, state, and local officials and have been establishing a response plan for Snyder Village.  We also have communication systems put in place to relay important information and updates to residents, staff, POAs, and family members as needed.

Since we are considered an essential business, our employees are still reporting for work during the stay-at-home order issued by the governor this past Friday.  The care and support that our staff provides for our residents is incredibly valuable and we have been impressed by the commitment and care they are displaying through this challenging time.

We have inventoried our Personal Protective Equipment and are working to secure what else may be needed.  As we prepare for the unknown, just like hospitals and other senior living facilities, we are accepting homemade face masks.  If you sew and would be willing to lend a hand, you can find information here or by contacting Ashley at [email protected] or 367-4300 ext. 135.  She can send you detailed instructions and the pattern.  Finished masks can be dropped off at the Health Center’s back door.

And a reminder – If you are interested in having a phone call, Facetime call, or Google Duo call with your resident, please call (309) 367-4300 ext. 100 during office hours to schedule a time for your call.  For photos and more, please follow our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/snydervillage.

As always, if you have any questions, please call (309) 367-4300 during business hours.  If you must speak with someone after hours, you may call Keith Swartzentruber, Executive Director, on his cell at (309) 360-3101.  Thank you.

Dear residents, family members, and friends of Snyder Village,

The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to make headlines in the news media and recent reports indicate active cases now in Illinois.  We at Snyder Village are carefully monitoring the situation and have formed an action plan to prepare for the virus reaching Central Illinois and to help prevent the spread of the virus on our campus.  The health and well-being of our residents and staff remains our highest priority.

If you plan on visiting the Snyder Village campus, please stop and ask yourself the following questions before entering any of our facilities:

1) Have I traveled internationally within the last 14 days to restricted countries?

Current countries listed as restricted according to the CDC include: China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, Japan, and Hong Kong.  View the most up-to-date list of restricted countries at www.cdc.gov.

2)  Do I have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath?

Milder symptoms can include body aches, and less frequently diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

3)  Have I had contact with someone with or under investigation for COVID-19?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, we ask that you please refrain from visiting the Snyder Village campus until you are symptom free for a minimum of 14 days.  Thank you for your cooperation.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at (309) 367-4300.
